Literary Chic

Stylish ways to showcase your books and enhance your home décor.

If you treasure your book collection, but wish you could find more unique or creative ways to display them – we’re sharing a few ideas to help spark your creativity! That way, all you need to think about is what’s next on your TBR.

Stack ‘Em Up

If we suggested decorating with a classic coffee table book, you might think something like, Why did I even read this?

Okay… but what if we suggest a STACK of coffee table books? Yes, still simple… but maybe so simple that it’s genius? Who knows.

Anywhoo, discussions of genius aside, find some gorgeous oversized books – thrifted, new, discovered in your mom’s basement… they all work – and then stack ‘em up. Pair by color or theme. Children's books work beautifully in these stacks, as well.

And don’t be precious about this stack of books! Add a box with your TV remotes on top, or a favorite candle, or whatever else is currently gathering dust on your coffee table.

Don’t Forget The Shelves

Many bookshelves are on the larger side, and therefore become a natural focal point for the eye. So let’s not ignore them.

A few years ago, color-coding your books was very trendy. But it was popular for a reason – it looked so cute!

If color-coded isn’t your vibe, you could try organizing your collection by mood evoked, book theme, or simply in alphabetical order (classic).

Some folks dedicated to the neutral aesthetic even turn all of their books backwards to show only the page, instead of the spine.

Keep Books in the Kitchen

Do you have a collection of cookbooks currently collecting dust somewhere? Same.

So let’s get them out, dust them off, and use them as decor! Nothing says cozy, lived-in kitchen like your favorite well-worn cookbook sitting open by the stove. Maybe it’s even splashed with a bit of the marinara from that must-have pasta recipe. We firmly believe that books can (and should!) be the star in every room of your home; the kitchen is a great place to test this theory out. .
